Google will invest $6 billion to develop a 1-gigawatt data centre and its power infrastructure in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh in the Alphabet unit's first such investment in India, government sources said on Wednesday.

This $6 billion investment also aligns with Google’s 2020 pledge to invest $10 billion over 5–7 years in India's digital ecosystem.

Andhra Pradesh aims to significantly expand its data centre capacity and energy supply, targeting 6GW over the next five years.
