Simons was acquired by the Celtics as the main return in the Holiday trade with Portland. While Simons would be a natural fit at the one for the Celtics next season, it still appears that Boston would be comfortable simply moving Payton Pritchard into the starting five.

The Boston Celtics have been very busy this summer, trading Kristaps Porziņģis to the Atlanta Hawks and Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in moves aimed to keep the team under the second apron.

The Celtics "will continue to invite trade discussion" for Simons, whom Boston acquired last month in exchange for two-time All-Star guard Jrue Holiday. Per The Stein Line, the Celtics will keep the window open through the 2025-26 trade deadline.
