Orlando officials on Thursday denounced the overnight removal by Florida transportation workers of a rainbow-colored crosswalk outside the Pulse

The crosswalk was installed as part of a memorial honoring the victims of the June 2016 shooting, when a gunman opened fire at the LGBTQ club, killing 49 people and injuring more than 50.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said the repainting of the crosswalk near the site of the Pulse mass shooting was done "without any supporting safety data or discussion."
