Emory University sent out an active shooting alert to its Atlanta campus late this afternoon. Additional details about the situation were not immediately clear. The Atlanta Police Department is on scene investigating an active shooter, police said in a statement. Information is still being collected as the incident is still unfolding, police said.

A police officer was killed during a shooting at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Atlanta campus at Emory University. Shots were first reported just before 5 p.m. local time near the Emory Point CVS, prompting Emory University to issue an emergency alert and an order to shelter in place and for the CDC campus to be locked down.

The suspect in the shooting of two Atlanta transit police officers was captured in Alabama Friday morning. The U.S. Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 26-year-old Christopher Daniels, according to U.S. Marshal Marty Keely.
