The first shipment of humanitarian aid airlifted from Italy to Gaza was dropped on Saturday into the Strip.

Italy and Jordan airdropped humanitarian aid over the Gaza Strip on Saturday (August 9). U.N. agencies say airdrops are insufficient and that Israel must let in far more aid by land and open up access to the territory to prevent starvation among its 2.2 million people, most of whom are displaced amidst vast swathes of rubble.

At least 91 people have been killed near aid centers across the Gaza Strip since Wednesday, according to the government media office run by Hamas and local hospitals.
