As of the latest update, issued at 4 a.m. CDT Thursday, Tropical Storm Erin was located about 990 miles east of the Leeward Islands and was on a path to the west at 17 mph. Tropical Storm Erin officially formed in the eastern Atlantic on Monday morning, just west of the Cabo Verde islands. This system is expected to continue moving west to west-northwest at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
