The Texas Department of Public Safety said a routine traffic stop earlier this week turned into a major drug bust after a Trooper uncovered over 21 pounds of cocaine hidden inside a vehicle.

He was booked into the Ellis County Jail, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when the trooper attempted to stop a red GMC pickup truck. The right front passenger exited the moving vehicle and fled on foot.

The trooper originally tried to perform a traffic stop after witnessing a red GMC pickup truck commit a traffic violation.
