Fresh off his impressive stint as India’s Test captain during the Anderson‑Tendulkar Trophy, Shubman Gill has been appointed the captain of North Zone for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025–26, set to begin on August 28 in Bengaluru.

Indian Test skipper Shubman Gill was on Thursday named captain of the North Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, beginning August 28, less than three weeks after he led a young side to a thrilling 2-2 draw against England in a gruelling five-Test series.

Shubman Gill, India's Test captain, is set to lead the North Zone in the Duleep Trophy. His participation in the entire tournament is uncertain as he is part of BCCI's plans for the Asia Cup. Despite not being a T20I regular, he might team up with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson or Abhishek Sharma. If unavailable, Shubham Rohilla will replace him.
