Kia recall of over 137,000 Soul, Selto vehicles audited by NHTSA
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that it has opened an audit of the remedy for a recall of certain Kia vehicles. The agency announced Aug. 6 that it would conduct an audit into over 137,000 2021-2023 Seltos and Soul vehicles that were recalled in February for piston oil rings that may have been manufactured incorrectly.

The audit comes months after Kia recalled 137,256 Seltos and Soul vehicles in February due to potentially defective piston oil rings. The faulty components could lead to engine damage, increasing the risk of stalling or fire, and potentially resulting in a crash or injury, according to a filing by the federal agency .
Recall alert: Kia recalls 300K vehicles for two separate issues
The recalls affect 201,149 Kia Telluride vehicles and 100,063 Kia K5 vehicles. In the Telluride models, the door belt molding trim can delaminate and detach, while in the K5 models, the left and right rear window trim pieces may loosen and detach. These detached pieces can become road hazards, increasing the risk of a crash.
