Former Premier League referee David Coote has been banned for eight weeks and ordered to take a face-to-face education program for making offensive comments about Jürgen Klopp in a private video.

Former Premier League referee David Coote has been given an eight-week suspension and told to attend an education programme over abusive words he used about former Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp. Coote was charged by the Football Association in June after the comments about Klopp came to light in a video circulated on social media last November.

The incident, which led to his dismissal, was reviewed by an independent regulatory commission that announced the disciplinary action on Tuesday.

David Coote was previously fired from his role as an English Premier League referee for his actions which resulted in his position being deemed "untenable"
