Rookie safety Dan Jackson, the Lions' seventh-round draft pick, is out indefinitely after injuring his shoulder in Sunday's practice.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell provided an update for cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr., and while he didn't provide specifics on the injury, his answer just about said it all.

Rakestraw was selected by the Lions in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing football at Missouri in college. He was the 61st overall pick in the draft, and he ended up playing in eight games last season for Detroit. He finished with six total tackles on the season.

The Lions have one of, if not the best running back tandem in the NFL in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. The challenge, sometimes, is finding a way to get both on the field at the same time, given all the top players on Detroit’s offense. But sometimes, that’s not a challenge at all.

Detroit Lions fans are chomping at the bit for an edge rusher who can take up the mantle across from Aidan Hutchinson. While the Lions may not have that big star power guy there, they have a solid rotation with young guys who are climbing up the ladder and looking to get more time.
