As Texas House Democrats hunker down in Illinois to try to stop a Republican-led redistricting plan in their state, national Democrats and Gov. JB Pritzker ratcheted up their rhetoric.

Dozens of Texas Democrats have left the state in a bid to block a vote on redrawn U.S. House maps sought by Trump.

Democrats who left the state have shown no signs of buckling for now: A group was scheduled to appear later Friday with California Gov. Gavin Newsom in a public show of support for the walkout.

Texas Republicans are suing to remove 13 House Democrats who fled the state to block a redistricting plan, while Attorney General Ken Paxton also secured a restraining order against Beto O’Rourke’s PAC for allegedly funding the lawmakers’ absence.

Gov. Greg Abbott previously asked the court to expel Rep. Gene Wu, the House Democratic leader. Paxton disputed the governor’s authority to make the request.
