Tyler Locklear and Alek Thomas homered, Brandon Pfaadt tied a career high with his 11th victory, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 6-2 in Phoenix on Monday.

The win moved Arizona to 16-12 against the NL West, and only the division-leading Dodgers have a higher winning percentage within the division. The Diamondbacks are 5-3 against the Padres, the team currently in control of the third and final wild-card spot in the National League.

Pfaadt (11-7) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four over 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Padres on Monday. Pfaadt was effective at limiting the damage, bouncing back after giving up three home runs in a seven-run meltdown versus the Tigers in his last start.

The Arizona Diamondbacks continued an ugly trend Monday, losing 5-1 to the Detroit Tigers in an all-encompassing dud of a game. They'll look to buck their offensive woes on Tuesday at 3:40 p.m. MST.
