Craig Breslow was "all-in" on trying to land a top starter, but other teams "weren’t willing" to deal, Boston's team president said.

Here are three moves that the Boston Red Sox and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow should make now that the MLB trade deadline has passed.

According to sources, the Red Sox remained engaged on top starters up to the end. San Diego hotly pursued Duran, but the Red Sox didn’t see enough return to move him. Boston tried to trade for Eugenio Suarez with the intent of moving him to first base before Arizona sent him to Seattle.

Of note, Bowden identified the Red Sox as the team “that asked for too much in trades,” citing multiple MLB general managers. That led to another undesirable superlative for Boston: “The fan base that heard crickets.”
