It took one half of their preseason debuts for Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart to provide promising glimpses into the New York Giants’ present and future in a 34-25 win over the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.

BUFFALO — Russell Wilson got straight to the point. Making his Giants debut, Wilson engineered a 12-play, 30-yard drive for a field goal to start the game Saturday against the Bills. Wilson completed 6 of 7 passes for 28 yards, utilizing mostly his tight ends and running backs on short routes.

Wilson has looked uneven through 12 training camp practice. It’s obvious (as if it wasn’t already) that he is a fading veteran. Yet at least for Saturday afternoon — when he started and played one drive in the Giants’ preseason opener at the Bills — Wilson looked steady and competent.
