For the first time in more than a decade, the Boston Celtics will not play on opening night or on Christmas Day.

Boston has played in nine consecutive games on Christmas Day but will not be on the holiday schedule this season, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. This marks the Celtics’ first Christmas Day absence since 2015, as they navigate the campaign with Jaylen Brown as their No. 1 option while Tatum is expected to miss most, if not all, of the season.
