Lafufus are counterfeit versions of Labubus that have proliferated in the wake of the original's popularity, with everyone from street vendors to Facebook sellers either selling them outright as fakes or attempting to pass them off as originals in order to profit off the scarcity of the original.

Mall of America is getting in on the Labubu craze. Driving the news: The mall announced Monday that it will soon be home to Minnesota's first Pop Mart store. The Chinese retailer sells the spiky-eared dolls and other popular collectors' items with cult followings.

Pop Mart, the designer toy brand behind the viral Labubu dolls, is headed to the Mall of America.
