An eruption of the Krasheninnikov volcano in Russia expelled a huge ash plume and may be linked to the earthquake that triggered tsunami warnings on 29 July

Russia’s Krasheninnikov volcano erupted for the first time in centuries on August 3, sending ash and gas nearly four miles into the atmosphere—less than 150 miles away from the epicenter of the magnitude 8.

The Krasheninnikov volcano sent ash more than 3.7 miles into the sky, according to staff at the Kronotsky Reserve, where the volcano is located.
