The 2025 Superman movie is not yet available on a subscription-based streaming service, but we do expect to see the new Superman movie streaming on HBO Max, free to HBO Max subscribers eventually, because Superman is a Warner Bros. movie, and HBO Max is the streamer owned by Warner Bros.

Renowned international animation distributor Gkids has struck a new deal with HBO Max that will expand upon their partnership, with HBO Max continuing to serve as the U.S. streaming destination for Gkids’ award-winning Japanese, mostly animated features.

The Mia Goth-starring slasher Pearl is a prequel to Ti West's film X, centering on a younger version of the elderly villain in that flick. HBO Max carries X, Pearl and a third film in the series, MaXXXine, but I recommend Pearl if you only have time for one movie.

Starting September 1, HBO Max will be picking up 20 animated and live-action movies from well-known Japanese directors like Hideaki Anno, Makoto Shinkai, and Satoshi Kon, some of which are premiering on streaming in North America for the first time.
