With feels-like temperatures threatening to soar to 110 degrees, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties. The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A heat advisory has been issued for Miami-Dade and Broward counties for Monday and will be in effect noon to 6 p.m. South Florida also was under a heat advisory on Friday. Although the weekend was scorching hot in the region, the National Weather Service in Miami didn’t issue heat advisories for Saturday and Sunday.

Miami had 60 days last year when the heat index was above 110 degrees F. This is considered extremely dangerous to people who do not have access to air conditioning and other ways to stay cooler than the outside temperature Heat is also a major cause of ER admissions during the hottest months.
