Jonathan India hit a three-run homer and Michael Wacha scattered five hits over six innings to help the Kansas City Royals beat the Red Sox 7-3 on Wednesday night, ending Boston's seven-game winning streak.

The Red Sox set a new franchise record for inflicting pain on an opponent. They hit five batters with pitches for the first time in Boston's history, per Chris Cotillo. Starting pitcher Dustin May got the party started with a pair of HBPs. Left-handed reliever Chris Murphy kept it going with two more hit batsmen of his own.

May, acquired from the Dodgers at the trade deadline, struggled through 3⅔ innings, allowing three runs, six hits, and a walk, while striking out four.
