Sydney Sweeney’s latest film, Americana, has received negative reviews amid the controversy surrounding her latest jeans ad with American Eagle. The film premiered at South by Southwest on March 17, 2023.

Sydney Sweeney’s Americana is now in theaters, with PVOD dropping in September 2025 and streaming on STARZ by late December.

Now, the movie is finally coming to the big screen for mainstream audiences. Sweeney stars as Penny Jo Poplin, a waitress in South Dakota who teams up with a military veteran (Paul Walter Hauser) to track down a valuable Native American artifact on the black market: a Ghost Shirt.
